When can my child face outwards in a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier?

The Baby Carrier Mini, Move, One/One Air, and Harmony are all compatible for outward facing carrying. Following advice from pediatricians we collaborate with, we recommend that your baby be carried facing inwards in the baby carrier until around five months of age. Before this age, baby’s neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed. Once they can support their heads independently, you can transition to outward facing.

How long can I carry my child at a time?

You can carry your child in a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not be still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between the baby carrier and, e.g., a bouncer, stroller and crib/cradle.

Do BabyBjörn Baby Carriers suit parents of any particular size?

Our baby carriers are designed to be flexible to fit parents from size S to XL. With a few simple strap adjustments, our carriers can adapt to parents of all sizes. If you ever need help, just reach out to care@babybjorn.com Check out our comparison chart to see which carrier best suits your body type and needs. You can book a virtual consultation for personalized fit and view our helpful videos here. We also recommend that you try out our baby carriers via a retailer to see which model fits you best.

Is my baby's position anatomically correct in BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?

Yes, when your baby sits in a BabyBjörn carrier their legs, hips, and spine are in the same position as when you carry your child in your arms. According to pediatricians, an upright position that ensures free air passages, free movement for the legs and arms and good support for the neck and head is the optimal position for a newborn. Our Baby Carriers meet all of these important orthopedic requirements for small children. Read more about what pediatricians have to say about our baby carriers. If you ever have specific questions about how your baby is being carried, please reach out to our Care Team via email, phone, or chat. You can also book a virtual consultation and view our helpful videos here.

Can carriers cause hip problems in babies?

All newborns are checked immediately after birth by a medical professional to make sure their hips are normally developed. Any problems are appropriately treated by doctors. Hip dysplasia cannot be caused by a baby carrier. Our Baby Carriers are developed in collaboration with doctors who specialize in pediatric orthopedics to ensure that they provide well-adapted support for the baby’s hips, neck and back. A baby’s back is initially shaped like a C and gradually takes on an S-shape as we reach adulthood. Almost everyone who works here at BabyBjörn has children, and we work closely with pediatric doctors when we develop our Baby Carriers. We also confer with midwives, safety experts from test institutes, and other specialists. Without their approval, we would not allow parents to use our Baby Carriers. To date, more than 30 million babies all over the world have been carried in a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier.

Why is the baby's position in a baby carrier so important?

The skeletal tissue surrounding the hips of newborns is still soft. This makes it important for the baby to sit in a natural, wide-legged position during their early months. All BabyBjörn Baby Carriers provide your baby with the proper support for his or her hips, thighs, neck and back while still allowing unobstructed movement. We recommend that you carry your baby facing inward during the first five months while they are still small and need proper support for their neck muscles.

When can I start using BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?

You can start using Baby Carrier Mini from newborn (at least 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to around 12 months (24 lbs/11 kg). You can start using Baby Carrier Move from newborn (at least 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to around 15 months (max 26.5 lbs/12 kg). Baby Carrier One and One Air can be used from newborn (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) up to about 3 years (max. 33 lbs/15 kg and 39 in/100 cm). Baby Carrier Harmony can be used from newborn (at least 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to around 3 years (max. 33 lbs/15 kg)

What are the benefits to baby carrying?

A baby carrier has many practical benefits, but the most important reason for carrying your baby close to you is the great need babies have for physical contact with and closeness to their parents. The closeness that you both experience when you carry your baby strengthens the all-important bond between you. BabyBjörn Baby Carriers give you the opportunity to stay close to one another often – even when you need your hands free for everyday tasks. Since our first carrier was introduced in 1973 The BabyBjörn family has kept safety as our number one priority for your newborn. Though we've made plenty of updates to our carriers since the "Close to Heart" carrier was released, you can rest easy knowing that your child is safe and close in a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier.

For how long can I carry my child in the baby carrier at a time?

You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not remain still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between using the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, pram and crib/cradle.

Does a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier suit adults of any particular size?

Our baby carriers are designed to be flexible enough to fit parents of all shapes and sizes, from size S to XL. We recommend that you visit a retailer in order to test the baby carrier and to determine which model fits you best.

Do I need an extra adapter for my BabyBjörn baby carrier?

No, all our baby carriers can be used from day one, without the need for special adapters. Our baby carriers have adjustable positions, making them suitable for newborns. If you have any questions about how to proceed, check out our video tutorials.

How do I wash my BabyBjörn plastic products?

BabyBjörn kitchen plastics are all dishwasher safe. Use the top rack to avoid close contact to the heating element of the machine. You can also hand wash with dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. BabyBjörn bathroom plastics should be rinsed under running water and wiped clean with a gentle cleansing product and non-abrasive sponge.

How do I wash my BabyBjörn fabric products?

You can machine wash all of our baby carriers and baby bouncer fabric seats (warm/40°C). Wash your baby carrier separately, preferably in a washing bag, and use a mild, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. We do not recommend fabric softener, and none of our products should be ironed. Our mesh fabric products dry very quickly thanks to their airy fabric.

Why did you change the BabyBjörn logo?

For more than six decades the BabyBjörn logo has been a symbol of care and innovation for families around the world. In that time, we’ve made various changes to our branding. This most recent update came in 2022 and as we continue to roll out new production on items and packaging, you may continue see the older logo. If you have any questions or concerns let us know!

The logo on my product does not match the logo on your website/my packaging. Did I get a counterfeit item?

What does the #7 stand for on the bottom of my BabyBjörn plastic products?

The number on the underside of many BabyBjörn plastics tells you which materials have been used to make it. Plastics are divided into seven different classes (for recycling), with Classes 1-6 standing for certain specific plastics. Class 7, however, refers to “other plastics”, meaning that this product is made from plastics other than those specified in Classes 1 to 6.

Our products belong to Class 7. They are always BPA-free and contain only food-safe and permitted plastics.

What is BCI-certified cotton?

The cotton that we use in our baby carriers carries the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) logo. This means that the cotton has been produced in a more sustainable way that is better for the environment it grows in and for the people who produce it. This includes using less water and fewer chemicals than the methods for conventionally grown cotton. You can read more about BCI here.

What are 3D fabrics?

Our mesh and jersey are 3D fabrics – also known as spacer fabrics. This means that they consist of three layers – an inner layer, a middle layer and an outer layer. Instead of padding, the middle layer consists of a fine, single-fiber thread that makes the layer airy so the fabric “breathes”.

The 3D fabrics that we use to make our baby carriers give them stability while also ensuring good airflow and heat- and moisture-wicking properties.

What are your plastic materials made out of?

All BabyBjörn kitchen and bathroom products are made from food-safe plastics and meet the applicable plastic safety requirements in both Europe and the USA. They are PVC-free and contain no Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromide. The plastic is also recyclable.

What are your fabric materials made out of?

Our 3D mesh carriers and bouncer seats consist of 100% polyester. The airy mesh fabric is breathable and carries away heat and moisture from you and your baby.

Our woven blend is made from 65% recycled polyester and 35% cotton. The fabric is durable, super-soft and has a rich, lustrous finish.

Our 3D jersey consists of 80% polyester, 16% cotton and 4% elastane and is a super-soft and smooth stretch fabric that has three layers for optimal breathability.

All BabyBjörn fabrics are gentle against your child’s skin and safe to chew or suck on. They have been tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class I for baby products. This means that the textiles are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens.

Is Baby Carrier Mini certified by the IHDI?

Yes, Baby Carrier Mini is acknowledged as hip-healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

Why has Mini been approved now? What has changed?

The International Hip Dysplasia Institute has re-evaluated baby carriers in general. As there is no evidence showing any link between hip dysplasia and baby carriers that spread the legs apart, they are now acknowledging Mini as hip-healthy. Nothing has changed in the design of the baby carrier or its features.

What does hip-healthy or hip-friendly mean?

All BabyBjörn baby carriers are ergonomic and acknowledged as hip-healthy carriers by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. This means that the baby carriers spread the legs apart and support healthy hip development.

Are there any positions in a carrier that can be harmful for a baby?

With regards to the hips, being in a baby carrier where the legs are spread apart is not harmful. For general safety, however, it is very important to follow guidelines for a safe position, especially regarding the baby’s airways.

Why does BabyBjörn not talk about the M position?

We talk about the M position as one of many great positions, since there is no single position that is correct. Babies will and should naturally be in many different positions during the day, from sleeping on their backs, tummy time and being in a car seat or pram, to being carried in your arms and a baby carrier.

Can baby carriers cause hip problems in young babies?

No, all newborn babies are examined at birth to check that their hips are normally developed. If they are not, they will receive medical treatment. It is not possible for a baby carrier to cause hip dysplasia.

Almost everyone who works here at BabyBjörn is a parent too and we work closely with doctors who specialise in paediatric orthopaedics when we develop our baby carriers. We also have midwives, safety experts from testing institutes and other specialists to advise us. Without their approval, we would never let parents use our baby carriers. 30 million children all over the world have been carried in our baby carriers so far, without a single baby coming to any harm.

Will the carrier help solve hip dysplasia? Or is it neutral in the sense that it does not exacerbate the syndrome?

A baby carrier can never cure a hip condition, and only medical devices can treat hip dysplasia. It is possible to use a baby carrier when undergoing different treatment methods, but always consult your healthcare provider!

What does it actually mean to be an “IHDI research partner”?

We are proud to be a research partner with IHDI! This means that we contribute to their research on hip health and support families affected by hip dysplasia. It also means that they provide guidance as we develop our products.

Is my baby’s position anatomically correct in a BabyBjörn baby carrier?

Yes, our baby carriers are developed to respect the small baby’s anatomy and the incredible growth that happens during the first year. As long as the babywearer respects the breathing conditions and keeps the legs separated with room for movement, the baby is in a good position. Our baby carriers are acknowledged as hip-healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

How do I adjust my Baby Carrier Mini to fit my growing baby?

All BabyBjörn Baby Carriers are fully adjustable to fit your growing child. The size adjustment is located on the inside of the seat area, i.e. under the baby’s bottom. You use the double buckle to adapt the baby carrier according to your child’s height.

How do I adjust the head support on Baby Carrier Mini?

All BabyBjörn Baby Carriers have a head support that should be used until your baby’s neck muscles are strong enough to hold your baby’s head up unaided. Adjust the head support by tightening or loosening the short straps beside the baby’s head. Check that your child has enough space around their head to ensure free air passages at all times.

When should I use the leg straps?

The leg straps are intended to reduce the size of the leg openings for smaller babies. The leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg. The leg straps may also need adjusted depending on the amount of clothing your baby is wearing. Always make sure that the leg straps are not too tight around your baby's legs.

Which material is used to make Baby Carrier Mini?

Baby Carrier Mini is available in several materials.

Woven: Our woven blend is made from 65% recycled polyester and 35% cotton. The fabric is durable, super-soft and has a rich, lustrous finish.

The difference between Baby Carrier Mini and Baby Carrier Original is that Baby Carrier Mini is made of new materials that are super-soft and gently hug your baby’s body. The seat area of Baby Carrier Mini is wider and gives better support to your newborn’s legs and hips when you’re babywearing in the facing-in position.

What are 3D fabrics?

Our 3D Mesh and 3D Jersey are 3D fabrics – also known as spacer fabrics. This means that they consist of three layers – an inner layer, an outer layer and a middle layer. Instead of padding, the middle layer is made of a fine, single-fibre thread that makes the layer airy so that the fabric “breathes”. The 3D fabrics that we use to make our baby carriers give them stability, at the same time as they ensure a good airflow, and wick away heat and moisture.

What material is used to make Baby Carrier Mini?

Baby Carrier Mini is available in three different materials: Woven, 3D Mesh and 3D Jersey.

Our baby carrier in woven is soft and lustrous and very durable. Our mesh and jersey materials are incredibly soft, ensure a good airflow, and stay cool and comfy when you’re babywearing.

How do I adjust Baby Carrier Move to fit my growing baby?

Baby Carrier Move is easy to adjust as your baby grows. You’ll find adjustment instructions and an adjustment buckle on the inside of the baby carrier’s front section. Adjust the buckle according to the length of your baby. The length setting is approximate. Hold the buckle flat. You may need to apply some force as the buckle is designed to be difficult to move for safety reasons. Should arms press on the lower or upper edge of the armholes, adjust the length setting.

Can I carry my baby in the facing-out position in BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Move?

Yes, from five months of age and once your baby can hold their head up unaided, you can fold down the head support and babywear in the facing-out position in Baby Carrier Move. By this time, your baby’s neck muscles, spine and hips will have stabilised.

Can I wash Baby Carrier Move?

You can machine wash Baby Carrier Move at 40°C. Do not use a lower or higher temperature. Remember to wash your baby carrier separately and to use a laundry bag to protect it. Use a mild detergent and a short spin programme. Hang the baby carrier up to dry. Do not tumble dry or iron. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

How do I adjust Baby Carrier Harmony to fit my growing baby?

As your baby grows, you can easily adjust the height, leg position and seat area. The pressure-relieving waist belt sits at waist height when you carry your little newborn baby, and as your baby grows larger, you move the belt down to your hips. Before your baby can hold their head up unaided, good head support is essential to help hold their head in an upright position. Baby Carrier Harmony has a head support with three different positions, which you easily adjust using the poppers. Use the position that provides good head and neck support, and gives you good supervision of your baby.

Which different babywearing positions does Baby Carrier Harmony offer?

Baby Carrier Harmony has two different height positions, which means that you can babywear from newborn and up to the age of three years. With just a few simple adjustments, you can vary your babywearing position from facing in to facing out on your front, and carrying on your back.

Your newborn baby needs a lot of closeness. At this age, it’s best to babywear in the facing-in position to strengthen the bond between you; the warmth of your breath and the sound of your heartbeat are reassuring to your baby. At about the age of five months, when your baby’s neck muscles are stronger, you can start carrying in the facing-out position – curious babies usually enjoy seeing what’s happening around them. When your baby is one year old, you can start carrying them on your back, which often feels more comfortable as your child grows heavier.

Baby Carrier Harmony is designed with a layer of stretchy meshfabric, while Baby Carrier One has a slightly sturdier construction with padding. The head supports are slightly different: although they are both adjustable, the head support on Baby Carrier Harmony offers three different positions. In addition, the back support on Baby Carrier Harmony is horizontally adjustable.

Can I wash Baby Carrier Harmony?

Baby Carrier Harmony is machine washable in warm water (100°F/40°C). We recommend washing your baby carrier separately and using a laundry bag to protect it. Baby Carrier One & One Air

When can I start using Baby Carrier One?

Baby Carrier One can be used from birth (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) up to about 3 years (max. 33 lbs/15 kg and 39 in/100 cm). The leg straps should always be used when your child weighs between 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg.(Pdf manual) Your child should always be carried facing inwards until he or she can support his or her head on their own, usually around five months of age. Your child can start being worn on your back after they are about 12 months old.

How do I adjust Baby Carrier One as my child grows?

For the first few months you should use the upper height position for newborns. Once your child is 27 in/62 cm long (around 4 months), you can easily change to the lower height position using the red zipper. The head support should be used until the child’s neck muscles are strong enough to hold the head up properly, which is usually around five months of age.

When can I start carrying my baby in the facing-out position in Baby Carrier One?

We recommend that you carry your baby in the facing-in position until they are at least five (5) months old. Your baby’s neck, back and hips will then be sufficiently developed for you to be able to carry them in the facing-out position as well. The zips should be completely open in the facing-out position. At this age, most babies think it is fun to get a look at the exciting world around them, with their back safely resting against mum’s or dad’s chest.

How do I carry my child on my back in Baby Carrier One?

Firstly, put on the baby carrier as usual. Your child should be facing you and sitting in the wide leg position. Loosen both shoulder straps.

Slide one of your arms up under the shoulder strap and your other arm down under the lower part of the shoulder strap. The shoulder strap should now form a closed loop around your body.

Support your child’s weight from underneath as you swivel them around, under your raised arm, and on to your back.

Put the shoulder strap back in place and move the back yoke into a comfortable position.

Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder straps.

Watch a helpful tutorial video here.

When should I adjust the leg position for my baby?

Your newborn should always be carried facing inwards with normal leg position. Normal leg position should also always be used when carrying your newborn baby facing outwards. For bigger babies carried facing inwards, you can either use normal or wide leg position. The wide leg position should always be used when carrying baby on your back. Switch between normal and wide leg position by opening or closing the zipper on both sides. The zippers have a safety “lock” feature so that the leg position is secured and will not move while you are carrying. Check out our helpful tutorial here.

When do I use the leg straps for Baby Carrier One?

The leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 8 lb/3.5 kg and 10 lb/4.5 kg. Fasten the loops on the vest onto the large buttons at the front of the baby carrier. This may also vary a bit depending on how much clothing your baby is wearing. Always make sure that the leg straps are not too tight around baby’s legs.

How do I get the front flap of my Baby Carrier One to stay down?

We’ve noticed that the Baby Carrier One can be a bit sticky when it comes to the front flap staying down. That's because as a newborn, it's important for their head to have plenty of support. Move the head support toggles down the track away from the buckle. Fold the flap down, and over bend if necessary. Tighten the strap when turned down. Check out the helpful video tutorial here.

How do I adjust Baby Carrier One to fit a newborn or a larger baby?

Use the upper height position for a newborn. Use the lower height position for baby from 62-68 cm. Once your baby’s shoulders reach the head support buckle, we recommend adjusting to the lower height position. Always check that the zip is completely closed.

When can I start carrying my child on my back in Baby Carrier One?

Once your baby is 12 months old, he or she is big enough to be carried on your back in Baby Carrier One.

How do I put on Baby Carrier One?

The baby carrier is always delivered in the upper height position for newborn. If your baby is 62-68 cm long, you should switch to the lower height level for baby.

  1. Put the baby carrier on over your head, like a sweater.

  2. Position the back yoke below your shoulder blades and then buckle the waist belt at the back.

  3. Loosen the shoulder straps and unfasten the headrest on both sides, as well as the safety lock on one side.

Travel Cot

When can my child use BabyBjörn Travel Cot Light?

The BabyBjörn Travel Cot has been designed for use from birth up to about three years. There is no weight limit, given that the mattress is directly on the floor. How long you can use the travel cot varies from child to child. Some children can use the BabyBjörn Travel Cot even after turning three. Others are more likely to attempt escape and can’t use it as long. When your child tries to climb out of the travel cot, it is time to stop using it, so pay attention to whether he or she begins trying to get out of it.

Is there a maximum weight?

We have not listed a recommended maximum weight for BabyBjörn Travel Crib as it rests firmly on the floor. Make sure that all four are locked in the right position before putting the mattress in. Fasten the mattress to the bottom by pulling the red loops through the holes in each corner and fasten them to the red hooks. This ensures the mattress will not slip within the frame. Check out our helpful tutorial here.

How do I fold up BabyBjörn Travel Cot?

First detach the mattress from the hooks. Fold up the mattress and put it in the storage bag. Fold in one leg at a time, pulling out each leg before you fold it. Fold up the crib in the middle and put it in the bag, between the mattress pad. You can find a tutorial here.

Travel Crib Light Silver mesh - BabyBjörn

Cradle

When can my baby use BabyBjörn Cradle?

The Cradle can be used by a newborn baby until he or she can sit unaided (approximately 6 months) or weights 18 lbs/8 kg.

What is special about BabyBjörn Cradle?

The BabyBjörn Cradle has a dream-like suspension base that lulls baby to sleep with their own movements. The gentle rocking movement is similar to that of a stroller with spring suspension. The Cradle is easy to rock in all directions, and will never tip over. You can start the motion with gentle hand or foot movements.

The Cradle is set in motion by your baby’s movements and a baby who wakes up may be lulled back to sleep on their own. Some sleep experts claim that children do not sleep as deeply when they are in motion. But the Cradle stops rocking once your baby falls asleep, so he or she does not get accustomed to constant movement while asleep.

The BabyBjörn Cradle has full mesh sides for two major reasons. The first is so that your baby can breathe through it if they get very close to the edge while sleeping. The second, is so that you can see through the fabric which makes it easy to keep an eye on your sleeping baby from across the room.

How do I know my baby is safe in BabyBjörn Cradle?

The BabyBjörn Cradle has been developed in consultation with baby sleep experts, including American physician and child safety expert Mark Brandenburg. Doctor Brandenburg is convinced that the BabyBjörn Cradle does not have any of the risks commonly associated with cradles. Doctor Brandenburg contends that cradles can get stuck at an angle that can be dangerous for the baby. But he confirms that there is no risk of this happening with the BabyBjörn Cradle, because it stands firmly on the floor and does not rock in the traditional way and so cannot get stuck in one position.

In his book “Child Safe” he writes: “Injury occurs when a baby rolls so far to one side that the cradle fails to rock back in the other direction. If the cradle becomes angled to a degree that prevents an infant from moving off the railings, pressure against her chest can become great enough to prevent breathing.”

In addition, all sides of the cradle are made of a mesh fabric that your baby can breathe through, even if your baby’s face is very close to the side of the cradle.

What are the cradle's measurements?

The cradle weighs only 13 lbs/6 kg.

Height/length/width in transport mode: 5x31x23 in/13x79x58 cm
Height/length/width unfolded/standing: 26x31x23 in/65x79x58 cm

That’s important to us!

Does the Cradle come with a mattress?

Yes, the BabyBjörn Cradle includes the mattress and mattress cover. It complies with existing mattress standards and has been developed in consultation with pediatricians. A thin mattress is safer than a thicker one.

Please note: Only use the BabyBjörn mattress that comes with this product. It has been tested with the cradle itself to the highest standards of safety.

We also developed an organic cotton sheet that is tailored to fit the mattress, which can be bought as an accessory.

How do I wash the cradle?

The cradle’s outer fabric is easy to remove by opening three zips. Machine-wash the fabric separately in warm water (40° C). The mattress is machine washable in hot water (60° C). You can either remove the mattress fabric or leave it on during washing.

Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. The cradle framework and other details can be wiped using a cloth and gentle, all-purpose cleaner.

How do I use the BabyBjörn Canopy for Cradle?

The canopy is an accessory for BabyBjörn Cradle which is sold separately. It provides a cozy shelter for your baby. The canopy can also be used as a mosquito and insect net, since you can wrap it all the way around the cradle.

It is easy to attach the canopy to the cradle by clipping it to the edge – no tools are needed.

Yes. All materials in this product meet the requirements for OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products. This means they are kind to your baby’s skin and safe to taste.

When can I begin using the baby crib for my baby?

BabyBjörn Baby Cot is suitable for newborns and until approximately the age of 2.

How do I wash the baby crib?

You will need a zipper tool if you want to wash the mattress cover. This tool is stored in a small pocket on the underside of the cot. The mattress cover can be machine-washed on hot (60˚C) and dried in the dryer.

You will also need to unlock the zipper with the zipper tool if you want to wash the cot fabric. The crib fabric can be machine-washed on warm (40˚C). It should not be dried in the dryer, but it still dries quickly since it is mesh.

The mattress foam should be washed by hand.

How do I clean the cup, can I wash it in the dishwasher?

You can wash the cup by hand or in the dishwasher.

Can I put the cup in the freezer?

Yes, the cup is freezer-safe and can be used in the freezer.

Yes!

What material is the cup made out of?

The cup is made out of polypropylene (PP) and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).

The plastic is food grade and meets plastic safety requirements in both Europe (EEC) and the U.S. (FDA). The product is PVC-free and does not contain bisphenol A, phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromine. The plastic is also recyclable.

We at BabyBjörn want you to know that you have chosen a product that is both functional and safe. We are beginning to label our plastic products “BPA-free” so that you can rest at ease.

When can my child start using the BabyBjörn Baby Cup?

Your child can start using the cup from around 8 months as his/her first cup (child development is however individual and the age can therefore vary a bit). The cup’s grip-friendly shape and surface make it easy for small hands to lift and hold, while a big foot with a rubber ring on the base makes the cup stable and hard to knock over.

TIP: An adult can feed baby from the cup/hold the cup in the beginning and when the baby begins to get interested and has the motor skills to hold the cup, it becomes natural for the baby to do it himself/herself. Baby will love experimenting in the beginning and by filling small amounts at a time, spills will be a natural part of learning.

Plate, Spoon & Fork

What can I do to make my BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork last longer?

Our best tip for making your BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork last longer is to use them together. The spoon and fork are specifically designed to be used with the plate and are perfect for a young child to use. Do not use with metal silverware since this could scratch the bottom of the plate.

Wash BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork with a mild dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. Do not boil or sterilize. We recommend a maximum temperature of 194°C.

Bon appétit!

Can I sterilise or boil BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork?

We do not recommend sterilizing or boiling your Plate, Spoon or Fork. The maximum temperature they can withstand is 194°F, and if you overheat the material you risk damaging or deforming the products. We recommend that you wash your BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork before you use them with a mild dish soap or in the dishwasher.

Which plastics are used in BabyBjörn Baby Plate?

The edges of the spoon, fork and plate are made from Polypropylene (PP), and the rubber ring on the base of the plate is made from Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE). The inside of the plate is made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).

All BabyBjörn kitchen products are made from food-safe plastics and meet the applicable plastic safety requirements in both Europe and the USA. They are PVC-free and contain no Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromide. The plastic is also recyclable.

Can I wash BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork in the dishwasher?

Yes, it is fine to wash the plate, spoon and fork in the dishwasher. But you should avoid placing them near the dishwasher’s heating element.

What makes BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork easier to eat with than other plates and silverware?

The plate’s three-leafed clover shape makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food instead of chasing it around on the plate. The rubber ring on the base of the plate makes it steadier on the table. The rounding of the edges makes it difficult for small hands to grip the plate and toss it aside.

The short handles of the spoon and the fork are easy for small hands to grip and fit just as well in both the right hand and the left hand. The bowl of the spoon is shaped like the plate and makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food onto the spoon.

My BabyBjörn Baby Plate is marked #7 on the underside, what does this mean?

The number on the underside of the plate tells you which plastics have been used to make it.
